It’s All Greek To Me

In June I spent an incredible 5 days in a town in Crete called Rethymno. First of all, if you’ve never traveled to Greece… GO! It is one of the most stunning places I’ve ever been. The people of Crete are some of the friendliest and most accommodating I’ve ever experienced. Considering how weak the Euro is right now, I would suggest heading over and stimulating their economy. They could definitely use it and regardless of what you may have heard, travel to Greece is absolutely safe despite their financial crisis in 2015.

Before I tell you a little bit about some stunning outfits I took with me, let me tell you about the hotel!

So I took the 4 hour flight from London into Heraklion Airport where I was greeted by a fantastic chauffeur. I sure wish I could remember his name but the drive from the airport to Rethymno was stunning. Beautiful blue sea, hills, mountains and roads lined with bright pink oleanders. I was in heaven!

I arrived at the gorgeous Rimondi Luxury Hotel in Rethymno. My first reaction when I arrived was, why have I never come here before?!?

Now that I was in full on relaxation mode I suppose it was time to check out my room. I was on the more traditional side of the property called Palazzo Rimondi, which I loved! It was a maisonette so there was lots of room and it had a massive balcony outside of the bedroom. Every morning I sat outside, had my coffee and enjoyed a perfect start to my day. Keep in mind that this section is the more traditional side. It is a bit older with less bells and whistles. Because of some plumbing issues (which I am positive are sorted now) I was moved on my last two nights to the other side of the hotel. Regardless of which side you are on, the treatment by the staff is unbelievable. I was able to experience the newer section which is called the Rimondi Estate, and it is stunning. Very modern and sleek. If that is what you like, You’ll want to book that part of the hotel. For me, although I tend to prefer this type of modern room, I missed the balcony and also the character of the other side. Either way, you can’t go wrong! Read more about the two sections of the hotel HERE.

They checked me in and instead of taking me to my room, they took my luggage and invited me to the courtyard for a welcome drink. I love the fact that from the moment you arrive it’s all about relaxation. The wine is Greece is fantastic btw! They also offered a Cretan cheese along with some wonderful local honey. I was in no rush to get to my room at this point!

There are also plenty of other sights to see in the area! Beaches only minutes away, ruins, vineyards (wine and olive), amazing restaurants…everything you could want for a great holiday!

Ok now that I’ve told you about my trip, it’s time to show you some of the fabulous clothes I wore!
